Family Friendly If it's not too hot, kids can definitely handle this trail's manageable length and moderate grades.

This trail does get snow in the winter and is subject to closure. On the other hand, it is a good time to see some snow! As with the rest of the park, pets are not allowed.

Description

This is an easy to moderate trail that is comprised mainly of soft soil/sand making for a relatively easy outing. Heading west on the trail, it is a gradual climb to the high point, providing beautiful views of the surrounding peaks and Big Bear in the distance.

Once at the high point, the other side is a bit steeper and narrower as it heads down towards the California Riding and Hiking Trail. Several other intersecting trails can extend the hike as you would like. There is good footing throughout the trail. I would recommend appropriate footwear to protect the feet from slithering wildlife and other vegetation that may decide to scrape or cling. As always, take water! Overall, this is a good trail that is a perfect introduction to conquering elevation.

Expect great views further in along this trail. While it's mostly sand throughout, some areas are loose and others are more hardpack.
