Description

Lots of people hike to the top of South Bubble from the short trail that starts off the Park Loop Road. But this longer hike along the Bubbles Trail lets you experience both South Bubble and North Bubble in their entirety. This means plenty of dramatic views of both Jordan Pond and Eagle Lake.

The Bubbles Trail starts at the base of South Bubble along the northeast shore of Jordan Pond. The ascent to the top of South Bubble is short, steep and sweet, with dramatic views of Jordan Pond along the way. This is the most difficult part of the hike, and it should not be attempted by anyone with a fear of heights. At the top of South Bubble be sure to check out Bubble Rock, a glacial erratic precariously perched on a tall ledge. Continue along the Bubbles Trail as it dips down from the summit of South Bubble, then heads north to the top of North Bubble. This summit of North Bubble lies 872 feet above sea level (104 feet taller than the summit of South Bubble) and offers terrific views of Eagle Lake. After enjoying the views, follow the Bubbles Trail north as it descends to the western shore of Eagle Lake where it merges with a Carriage Road.
