Overview

Broken into eight sections, you can do this route in stages or all at once. Since it passes through 9 villages, you should be able to split it up and stay in accommodations if you don't want to camp.

Description

This mountain trail is one of the highest-rated long-distance trails in Europe. The route is well-marked. For the first three sections follow the red square with black mountain range symbols, section four the symbol is yellow, and sections five through 8 follow green symbols.

Like with much of the hiking in greece, when you're on this trail it can feel like you've fallen back in time. You'll wind through valleys, fields, orchards and olive groves, over ridge tops and through forests. You'll follow a series of roads, earthen roads, dirt paths, singletrack, double tracks and kalderimi (old cobble paths). There are old ruins and ancient bridges.
