Need to Know

Follow the sign before you go up to the individual backcountry campsites at Fern Lake. It tells you to go right and follow the unimproved trail that will eventually lead to Spruce Lake. During June, there was a huge snow drift covering part of the trail before reaching the backcountry campsites at Spruce Lake.

Description

Very steep, very muddy, standing water, log crossings, a little rock scrambling, and possible to lose sight of trail direction -- look for cairns. Huge snow drift moving onto the lake and covering part of the trail near the backcountry campsites at Spruce Lake. Unimpressed for the hike it took to get there. Recommend taking the Spruce Lake Trail instead of this connector to Fern Lake.
