A great alternative to hiking Magnolia Road from Boulder to Nederland. Good views and good adventuring.

Description

The Winnegar Ridge Trail starts at a small trailhead along Forest Road 359 (alternatively, you could start at the Forsythe Canyon Trail and hike the dirt road to the start) and climbs steeply up an open ridgeline. Throughout the route, the south side is cleared and north is forested. There are good views down into Coal Creek Canyon and to the peaks of Golden Gate Canyon State Park. The west end of the trail dead-ends amongst some houses however there is a clear trail which leads south to Aspen Way.

Winnegar Ridge is not a trail you would hike for its own sake. It is, rather, a way to stitch together a longer route (such as the popular Boulder-Nederland route or perhaps something even longer!)
