This is an easy hike on gravel and wooden boardwalk through mature beech and podocarp forest to some stunning blue glacial pools. The trail crosses the Makarora River over a suspension bridge and the best views are from the suspension bridge over the Blue River. There is a small sandy area near the pools, and swimming is an option though probably a chilly one.
