Description

Desert Dance consists of winding singletrack that weaves in and out of an arroyo from the parking lot up to the Lower Figure Eight Trail. This trail can be done in any direction and may be a good option for beginner hikers looking to learn how to hike on less technical terrain. With that in mind, there are a few sandy sections that can be tough in spots. Additionally, Desert Dance allows you to connect into the more technical and fun Chutes-n-Ladders loop.

Note that this trail does parallel and often cross an active arroyo. During the summer monsoons, this arroyo sees flowing water which can erase sections of the trail and/or dump loose sand on it. The trail can be different each time you hike it for this reason.

Flora & Fauna

The area does have creosote bushes, sumacs, sotols and agaves. Several species of cacti with some very big barrel cactus. Birds, rabbits and snakes can also be found.
