Description

The start is at the top of Monument Peak, however, this trail can also be done in the opposite direction.

The first third of the trail is pure rolling downhill. It is a perfectly chosen trail that utilizes natural features to create the excellent grade.

This first section of the trail leads you into the Wash Section, which is loose and rocky and can be a bit rough. The Wash Section eventually puts you onto a fire road (aka Old Highway), take a left and look to your left for a connector trail that goes up the hill. This is one of the few intersections that's not really marked. The grade is a little steep up the first part, but mellows out, and soon enough you're going back down the hill.

You'll eventually reach an intersection where Ridge Trail, Cascade Trail, and Monument Peak Trail all converge. You can take a right where Cascade and Monument Peak merge for 0.3 miles, and you'll want to stay straight when they split in order to reach the Monument Peak Trailhead.
