Description

This is one of several trails that starts at the Forest Road 107 trailhead and leads up to the Crest Trail (#25). The trail climbs steadily through the forest until it tops out at the Crest.

The trail intersects the Cut-Across Trail (#38)—which cuts across to the Little Bonito Trail (#37)—about 1.8 miles from the trailhead, but stay on the Argentina Trail until you reach the Crest or you'll miss all the good views. The trail gets steeper as it climbs out of the canyon to the Crest. You'll see a split-rail fence that protects the Argentina Spring (usually just a muddy seep), and then you're above the tree line and the views open up in all directions.

Once on the Crest, you can continue north to the Turkey Canyon Trail (#40) or south to the Little Bonito Trail (#37) to return to the Forest Road 107 trailhead. Or you can hike even further north or south along the Crest for a longer day trip or a one to two-night backpacking trip.
