Monument Trail is the closest trail to downtown Roanoke and the fastest way (on trail) to the top of Mill Mountain.

The Mill Mountain Greenway is a paved path that connects you to the bottom of Monument Trail. From there, it is an uphill climb to the intersection of Star Trail. Turn right (uphill) onto Star Trail and in a few minutes you'll pop out at the big neon star on the top of Mill Mountain. If you continue straight on Monument Trail instead, you'll emerge onto the Fishburn Parkway (which connects to the Blue Ridge Parkway). Cross the road, and you'll intersect with Ridgeline Trail and Riser Trail.
