Description

This is a mostly gentle route that cuts through the heart of Mission Trails Park. It has one moderately challenging climb to the Fortuna Saddle, where this trail meets the North Fortuna Trail and the South Fortuna Trail. The views are marred at times by a power line, a common problem with San Diego parks and open spaces.

Mission Trails is often hot and brown, but in the spring, particularly after a winter of heavy rains, it can be wonderfully verdant. This is a 3-star hike at its best and 2-star the rest of the year.
