Description

This trail begins at the parking area just east after entering the park. Your path immediately takes you across the Pauluxy River, so prepare to get your feet wet. Special care should be taken at times of high water. After crossing the river, the trail goes up a short incline and follows the river for a short time. The trail is easy to follow and well marked and should offer no problems navigating. The trail grade varies, but is steep in places as it travels in and out of forested areas as it follows the boundary of the park. The path is typically hard pack with plenty of rocks, so mind you step, especially in the steeper portions. This trail offers access to many of the backcountry campsites as well as plenty of solitude and opportunities for wildlife and bird viewing. Overall, this route provides a nice long hike that can be combined with a backcountry campsite for a great overnight trip close to DFW.

Long trail covers the exterior of the park- connects to many other trails along the way and crosses the river. 7.6mi
