Description

From the moment you leave the parking lot, this trail begins its challenging climb. Take a left at an unmarked intersection shortly down the trail and come upon a sign for the Kachess Ridge Trail. The trail ascends through a heavily wooded valley along Silver Creek. Though steep, the trail is well maintained and free of obstacles. At about 1 mile, you'll come to an unmarked intersection. Both trails lead to the ridge. However, the right trail is the official trail. The Forest Service has closed the left trail, so do not use it.

At about 2 miles, you'll reach an intersection near the creek. A labeled spur trail to the left leads to the ridge. This portion of the trail climbs steadily and is littered with large and old blowdowns that make moving quickly through this section challenging. Emerge from the dark forest onto the ridge. You'll be greeted with spectacular views of Kachess Lake and the mountains beyond. An old fire lookout also tops the ridge.

If you're looking for an extended hike, you can descend back to the intersection at Silver Creek and follow the trail up the valley into alpine meadows beyond.
