Begin at the road with nice views up the Rio Electrico valley. Head south past Hosteria El Pilar and continue along the east bank of the Rio Blanco.

Continue through forests with occasional views until you reach the Mirador Piedras Blancas, at about 2.7 miles. At the Mirador lookout, you'll have a great view of the Piedras Blancas glacier and if you're lucky you'll see some ice calving off of it.

Continue through woods and grasslands to the Sendero al Fitz Roy/ Fitz Roy Trail, where you can choose to climb to Fitz Roy or continue to El Chaltén.
