Overview

This is a popular, family friendly route following the La Mina river to the 35 foot La Mina Falls.

Need to Know

Recommend getting there very early in the morning if you want to avoid the crowds. This is the most crowded and popular trail in El Yunque National Forest. Wear your swimsuit!

Description

Hike on a mostly paved trail for about 3/4 mile to La Mina Falls. There are many opportunities for swimming in the beautiful river on the way to the falls, so remember to bring a swimsuit. The waterfall area is slippery - it's recommend that visitors wear non-slip footwear or water shoes. You can continue hiking on the Big Tree Trail after La Mina Falls, which meets up with PR 191 after 0.8 miles, or head back the way you came.
