Description

About 16 miles round trip loop.

Pull out parking on the East (LEFT as you go uphill) side of Hwy 410 about 28.1 miles outside of Enumclaw, across the street and a little uphill of the Skookum Falls viewpoint.

The trail starts on White River Trail (#1199) for about .4 miles, then steep--as in stairs--uphill on Palisades Trail (#1198) for about 2.5 miles and 2500 ft. Then beautiful views of Mt. Rainier and White River Valley as you ascend slightly along the the Palisades themselves about 6 miles, then descend via Ranger Creek Trail (#1197) back to the valley floor and return to your car about 3.5 miles via the White River Trail again, or on the side of the highway.

Went with Sandy Wiley. We only went in 3 miles (6 mile hike), but climbed 1760 feet to the second overlook!
