Hop on the Farms to Forest Trail for a great family-friendly experience amidst farmland that is undergoing reclamation by the dense hardwood forests from which it was cut.

Starting at the Farms to Forest Trail Parking Area, follow the green and yellow blazes into the woods for a short while before reaching the first intersection. At the intersection, trend right and continue through the forest, keeping your eyes peeled for verdant ground cedar (Lycopodium complanatum) strewn throughout the forest floor.

After about 20 minutes of hiking, start to look for a trail junction with the Farms to Forest Extension Trail. If a longer hike is in your future, jump on the extension trail for a longer loop through the area to nearby Quantico Creek.

Choosing to skip the extension, keep left at both upcoming junctions to continue on the Farms to Forest Trail eventually reaching the first junction. Turn right to return to the car.

Ground cedar are abundant in this area.
