Family Friendly This is a fairly easy hike close to the trailhead. The trail starts off steep but it is short. There are great views of Pettit Lake and the surrounding drainages.

Avoid when wet.

Description

From the Tin Cup Trailhead look for the trail junction 3/4 of a mile up the Pettit Creek Trail. If you are setting out to finish the whole Alice Toxaway Loop, many people take the Pettit Creek Trail to take on the loop counter clockwise. If you are taking the loop clockwise, you'll end up on the Pettit Creek Trail at the end of your trip.

The trail starts on a lodgepole pine/sagebrush ridge and travels over this ridge to the Yellow Belly Trailhead. In the summer, this can be a dusty trail as the amount of use it gets is very high.

Flora & Fauna

This is a dense lodgepole pine forest with trilliums in springtime.
