During mud season, please use restraint. The trail is maintained by volunteers who would probably rather be hiking.

Description

The trailhead has a nice parking lot with a large sign explaining the history of the trail. This trail is very popular with hikers, runners, and mountain bikers, so please be courteous and ready to yield. Dogs are allowed on the trail, but they must be under control.

The tread is in excellent shape - built and maintained by the Pend Oreille Pedalers bike club. There is one road crossing but there is almost never any traffic. Overall, this trail is an extremely pleasant experience. At the top of the hill is a kiosk with information about the trail and a map of the trail system.

Flora & Fauna

Deer and perhaps a moose or bear can be seen occasionally. Blue-pod lupine is abundant in the spring.
