Must have a Wilderness pass to park along the road. There is plenty of parking at the Cloudburst Summit Trailhead.

Description

A nice easy hike to Burkhart Trail camp for an overnight backpacking trip. Along the way you'll experience great views comparable to the Sierras. This is a nice alpine location minutes away from Los Angeles. You can take this back to return to the parking lot for an out-and-back, or you can go around and take the Burkhart Trail to Buckhorn Campground. You'll need to coordinate a shuttle if that is the choice.

Flora & Fauna

Great alpine mountain views and great flowers.

Plenty of flat space for tents. Beautiful trees that protect from wind. Creek was running enough for filtered water at the time of this photo. Great loop for your first night of backpacking camping.
