Moore Falls/Cascades Camp Connector

To get to Monkman Provincial Park from Tumbler Ridge, British Columbia (the nearest town), take BC 52 south for 9miles/14km to Murray River Forest Service Road. Go right onto Murray River FSR. This junction is well marked for Monkman PP. Follow Murray River FSR for 30miles/48km, into the park, to its campground and parking area. The trail system takes off from this parking area.

Moore Falls/Cascades Camp Connector is a trail that one can take to get from/to Moore Falls to/from Cascades Camp, without hiking back uphill to Monkman Lake Trail. With that said, this connector is a rather tough trail, and hiking back uphill to Monkman Lake Trail to get from/to Moore Falls to/from Cascades Camp is recommended.

This connector is a forest trail for almost its whole length. As shown here, starting out along Moore Falls Trail near Upper Moore Falls, this connector follows Monkman Creek upstream for its first half mile. A lot of deadfall is around, and wet, marshy areas. In places it is challenging to find the trail; look for orange diamonds and flagging tape when they are there. These challenges do ease off, and around the 0.4 mile mark there is a scenic view across a wide lake-like area along Monkman Creek.

Continuing on, soon after the 0.5 mile mark, the trail veers away from Monkman Creek (goodbye wet, marshy areas) and heads to a very steep, rocky, wet ravine/chute to climb up. It's not long, but still.... After surviving this chute, the trail gets easier :>)

After a total of about a mile, the trail breaks out of the forest, onto the rock slabs, and soon ends at a well-signed trail junction along Cascades Camp Trail.

Primarily mixed conifer forest - lodgepole pine, spruce, and firs. The undergrowth is thick. Near the Cascades Camp Trail junction, forest gives way to rock slabs with sparse, short grass. Deer and bears live here.
