Starting from Cattleman's Trailhead, this counter clockwise loop follows Bootlegger's Loop through open meadows before descending into the cool forests and cottonwoods along Willow Creek. Continue on Lost Moccasin Trail to complete the main loop, then add an out-and-back on Well Cairns and Echoes of Ancestors to connect with Castlewood Canyon State Park. The route offers a great variety of scenery including ponderosa forest, granite outcrops, creek crossings, canyon overlooks, and opportunities for easy bouldering. Approximately 5 miles with moderate grades and excellent trail signage throughout.
