Highway 66 west of Elbow Falls and the Powderface Creek Trail is closed to vehicles annually between December 1 and May 14. A Kananaskis Conservation Pass is required to park your vehicle in Kananaskis and the Bow Valley.

Need to Know

Always carry bear spray!

Description

This old fireroad follows the Little Elbow River over Tombstone Pass to Tombstone Backcountry Campground (Mt. Romulus Backcountry Campground is ~7.4mi/11.9km along the trail). There are great views of mounts Romulus, Remus, Glasgow and Tombstone (and for the adventurous, it's a jumping-off point to reach these summits!). This is about half of the popular "Elbow Loop" that connects with Big Elbow Trail.
