After leaving Río Ascencio behind you, the trail starts on your left heading across the grassy plain. You slowly but steadily gain elevation. Monte Almirante Nieto is prominently ahead of you, but you angle slightly to the left. At 1.2 miles, you crest a barren saddle with Laguna Inge on the other side. Descend gently towards the lake and hike along its eastern shore. The trail crosses the lake's outlet and turns west, joining the Los Cuernos Trail a quarter mile later.
