Description

From the intersection with the Rio Ascencio Trail, descend to the hills above the shores of Nordenskjold Lake, hiking through scenic grasslands and scrublands. To the north are awesome views of Almirante Nieto and, in the latter part of the trail, the Cuernos del Paine. Listen for the frequent avalanches on the face of Almirante Nieto. Pass the Refugio Los Cuernos at 6 miles and end at the Italiano camp and ranger station.

Flora & Fauna

Chilean firebush along the trail blooms brilliant red in spring.
