Oxbow Park is open daily year-round from 5 AM to 10 PM. There are no permits or fees required to use this county park.
Need to Know
This park is in the Driftless Area – terrain that was not pulverized by glaciers during the last ice age and hence lacks the glacial remains known as drift. It's landscape is characterized by steep hills, forested ridges, deeply carved river valleys, and karst geology (which gives rise to world-class cold-water trout streams).
Description
From the parking lot near the campground, cross Second Bridge over the South Branch of the Middle Fork of the Zumbro River and climb (some stairs are involved) through forest to a junction with the
Zumbro Trail. Continue upward to a junction with the
North Meadow Trail and stay left (south) to stay on the Maple Trail. Descend into a creek drainage then climb up on to a bluff above the river. Continue south along the bluff before turning east and descending to meet the
Zumbro Trail along the river.
