Description
The Tellico Blockhouse Trail is a paved trail the descends from the parking lot to the Tellico Blockhouse on the Little Tennessee River/Tellico Lake. As the trail departs the parking lot, it passes an informational sign that provides information regarding the history of the blockhouse.
The trail begins to turn to the left and continues to descend toward the Tellico Lake, the blockhouse starts to come into view. Tellico Lake is off to the right and views across the lake to Fort Loudoun are nice. The views toward the Smoky Mountains and of the lake are fantastic. The trail ends at the ruins of the blockhouse where you can see the original outline of the fort with a mixture of foundation and posts. There is a reconstructed tower that is part of the outline. From here, explore the site before retracing your steps and returning to your vehicle.
Flora & Fauna
The blockhouse sits on the banks of Tellico Lake, where you can see numerous birds throughout the year.
