This loop will take you past the Colonel's Cabin and an old watchpost originating from the WWII POW camp that used to be present in the vicinity of the current Barrier Lake Field Station. Formerly, there were numbered stops along this route with a corresponding pamphlet, but as of spring 2023, those materials are no longer available. However, there are permanent placards with some historical information outside both structures.
