Overview
Well maintained trail with natural features for everyone: a bog, a beaver pond and a mountain summit with lake views.
Need to Know
The parking lot is small and can hold five cars. You can park at the nearby Spring Lake boat launch, but you'll need a Washington State Park Discover Pass to park there.
Description
From the trailhead the surface is a gravel road which soon turns into a smooth, flat trail that ascends to connect with the
Ridge Trail. This trail has a boardwalk through the bog and a fun "I Am Groot" stump!
From there it ascends further up the
Ridge Loop until you see the sign for the trail to Echo Summit. This short, steep trail climbs to the summit of Echo Mountain, which is a bald knob of rock with views of both Spring Lake and Lake Desire, and makes a nice rest stop.
From there it is a fun descent all the way back to the trailhead.
Flora & Fauna
There is an active beaver pond about 1/2 mile into this hike - look for it on the left as you make the first creek crossing.
