The Carriage Road which leads to the parking lot for this trail is open daily 9am-6pm. The 6pm gate closure is very strict. Also the Carriage Road closes November 15th for the winter. If the road is closed you can hike up the road (or other trails in the area) to access this trail.

Description

Park at the lot at the top of the Carriage Road. The gate hours are very strict please pay attention to the signs. Starting from just a bit off the parking lot you have basically a three way fork to get up Belknap Mountain. Red, Blue and Green trails are all very similar with slightly varying lengths.

This trail, the Green Trail, is marked with light green blazes. It is generally well-maintained and well-marked. This trail is by far the steepest trail up Belknap Mountain between the three, red, green and blue. The trail consists of a steep climb most of the way up the mountain. It's generally challenging due to the medium rocks and roots that are along the entire length of the trail. When you're not climbing over rocks there is loose gravel to challenge you a bit more. To top it all off this trail can be very wet and muddy, with water flowing along it, in the right seasons. Watch out for sections of the trail that appear to fork, make sure you're choosing the correct path.
