Need to Know

Be alert for mountain bikers. Dogs are permitted on this trail, but not beyond the intersection with Sawmill Gulch #24.1. This is black bear and mountain lion territory- always carry bear spray!

Description

Follow this trail from the trailhead on Grant Creek Road along a smooth ascent through dense mature pine forest. This trail isn't as heavily trafficked as the rest of the Rattlesnake trails closer to Missoula and is well shaded throughout. Unlike many of the trails in the Rattlesnake, It is also very smooth with few exxposed roots or rocks to step over and around. Still considered a moderate hike due to elevation gain.
