Overview

There is no other trail system that I know of in the area, but these trails have just about everything you could want. The climbs are not mountains but there is more elevation gain here than you would expect for central Georgia and the technical sections can be tricky if you are not paying attention.

Need to Know

There is a trail that connects to Indian Springs State Park. Fresh Air Bar B Q is always a great place to go afterwards and only a few miles away. Dauset Trails Nature Center, next to the trails, is home to General Lee (Georgia's official Groundhog) as well as other animals.

Description

The entire area is wooded with hard woods and pines and beautiful. Very little maintenance is done to the trails beyond keeping bridges in good repair and clearing fallen trees, so they are fairly technical. But the trails have been here for years and are easy to follow. Camping is normally an option but at this time with Covid, it is not. There are 17 miles of trails here altogether and they are rated as green, blue and black.

Maps are available at the start or can be downloaded, and the numbering system is just for directions, not mileage. Parking and use are free but a collection box is there for donations and are much appreciated. There is a permanent bike pump and stand for repairs and a water fountain with a bottle filler in the parking lot area. Port a potties are available in the parking lot and there is are 2 changing areas within a privacy fence.
