Description
Transfarm has no intersections, so you can just hike and not be concerned with map reading. Getting to it may require a GPS check, though.
Park at the south end of
Whaley Trail. Hike out of the parking lot turning right on Burnett Creek Rd. In a very short distance, you'll see
Lost Chromosome on your left. Follow it to
Chainring. Go either direction on
Chainring to
Creek Loop. Go either direction on
Creek Loop to Transfarm.
From here, you'll not have any other turns. Hike all the way back to Burnett Creek Rd. Turn left on the road and it will be downhill to the parking lot.
Transfarm is pure XC hiking. There are no man-made features such as elevated trail, banked turns, jumps, etc. The trail does not see as much traffic as some of the other trails, so it gives off a backcountry feeling at times. It is one of the most secluded trails in the Urban Wilderness. It's not overgrown though due to thick canopy keeping the forest floor open. The climbs are moderate and the trail just flows through the "wilderness" as if you are getting further and further away from civilization.
It's highly suggested to hike the AC DC trail on your way to Transfarm.
