Need to Know

Parking is available across the road from the fire tower. No restrooms, no water, spotty cell service - plan ahead

Description

Starting at the fire tower, head north down the hill, following the green blazes. Some sections of trail are on the fire lanes, and some sections are on well-maintained singletrack. The initial descent has some rutting, and there are some small creek crossings that can be stepped over or through via carefully chosen footing. Mountain bikes can be used on the trail.

The trail winds through forests filled with native hardwoods, a few sections of old pine groves, and a few areas that have been recently heavily cut after severe wind damage. Some information has been posted near the cut areas by IN DNR to explain their forest management practices.

Return to the fire tower via the gravel road (E. 700 S.) for an additional 0.8 miles.

Flora & Fauna
