Need to Know
This trail generally requires a long approach from either side to access, but is worth it for the excellent views.
Description
This trail starts at the end of the
South Syncline Trail and continues down to meet up with the
Providence Canyon FR022 in Providence Canyon. After leaving the
South Syncline Trail, this becomes a doubletrack Forest Service road.
The first 0.75 miles or so are a nice descent through some pretty open terrain, and so you can get great views along this section into Providence Canyon and into Cache Valley. The trail then starts to weave in and out of alternating forests of aspen and scrub oak until the descent ends at approximately 1.5 miles on the road.
From here, the trail starts to ascend until it reaches approximately 8,000 feet in elevation again, where the road enters a forest of evergreens. After entering this forest, the trail maintains a relatively constant elevation until it meets up with the
Providence Canyon FR022 road.
Flora & Fauna
