Parking in the Old Mill Campground requires a fee.

Need to Know

The Old Mill Campground/picnic area is run by the Forest Service and requires a fee. However, parking can be found outside this area.

Description

This hike starts with a paved trail through the Old Mill campground picnic area. It then branches off onto a gravel trail for a short while before heading right up a wooded singletrack train that becomes ever steeper up to a saddle. From here, it's a matter or hiking up a fairly steep ridge with no clear trail.

At the top there's an obvious trail over more open terrain and rocks. Then the tough part of the hike begins up very steep loose scree. To reach the final summit, a very short section of class 2-3 rock climbing is needed. However, since this is an out-and-back hike, one can turn back at any point.
