A short hike to see a really big waterfall.
The roads to Golden and Silver Falls State Natural Area are open all year. The parking area can hold 10-12 vehicles and hosts a vault toilet.
Need to Know
The falls generally flow all year but are at their most energetic in late winter and early spring. Silver Falls can disappear during the summer, particularly in dry years.
Description
From the parking area go left (northwest) to find the start of the Silver Falls Trail marked with an informative plaque. From here, a short, nearly flat trail climbs easily to the base of Silver Falls, where you can look up at where the water spills over the uniquely rounded top of the falls. The trail becomes rockier and more uneven at the base of the falls. If you want to scramble higher for a closer look at the falls or for photography, be careful as boulders can be quite slippery when wet (spray or rain).
