Description

The Avian Loop Trail starts from the Sandpiper Trail. You'll cross another tidal creek and salt flats. Look for fiddler crabs when the tide is out. After the creek, the trail heads into the forest which is filled with trees covered in Spanish Moss. At the far end of the loop, the trail heads out to the Intracoastal Waterway where there are some picnic sites. You can watch the boats go by and if you're lucky, you might catch a glimpse of an osprey of dolphin in the river.
