This route has some decent hills and nice well-maintained trails that are mostly well marked.
From the parking lot off Edmands Rd, take Pioneer Trail
to Wren Trail
to Red Tail Trail
north across Edmands Road. Take a sharp left to climb Gibbs Mountain; then hike down the other side and left onto Pine Tree Loop
around the southwest corner of Beebe Pond. Bear left onto Flying Squirrel Trail
, crossing Broadmeadow Road onto Acorn Trail
. Turn left at the four-way junction onto Backpacker Trail
, then left onto Acorn Trail
(just before Broadmeadow Road) to return to the same four-way junction.
Continue straight onto Backpacker Alternate Loop
, then left to rejoin Backpacker Trail
. At around the 4.5-mile mark, turn left onto Chipmunk Trail
, left on Woodchuck Trail
for a short stint, and then bear right onto Fisher Trail
and make your way towards the northeast corner of the park. Then turn right at around mile 5 onto Jabberwocky
and wind your way back towards the southwest turning left onto Baiting Brook Meadows Trail
. Finish with a loop northwest of Beebe Pond on Pine Tree Loop
to Bear Paw Trail
, returning back to the parking lot on Edmands via Red Tail, Wren, and Pioneer (the same way you came in).
