From late December through early April this trail tends to get very wet and muddy and should only be used when frozen.

Description

Horse Trough splits off of Bench Trail just after the entrance. It generally parallels Bench Trail but instead of descending, stays more level and then climbs a bit before crossing Riverview Extension Trail. This section starts out tight and twisty along a ridge that used to form a small pond. At the midpoint of the trail, there is an old concrete Horse Trough on the downhill side of the trail. From here, the trail gets less winding and eventually ends in a clear cut area before joining Lower Riverview Trail. You can continue down Lower Riverview Trail trail to access Concrete Block and Homeless Camp.
