“A gentle cruise through the hardwoods, along a high ridge top!”— Ryan Smith
When nearing the end of the Campfire Trail, you'll see an intersection for the Paw Paw Trail on your left. If you continue past it, the Campfire Trail terminates into the Paw Paw Trail shortly after, creating the opportunity to make a loop and head back toward Kinderhook Cemetery without doing any major climbing or descending. This makes an easy beginner/intermediate loop option in the Wayne that doesn't require a ton of climbing.
You can pick up a couple extra miles by also hiking the Council Trail, which is accessed from Kinderhook Cemetery. The trail has a gravel base and holds up fairly well in damp conditions.
