Need to Know

Avoid this trail when conditions are icy or wet!!

Description

Accessed off of the Cascade Link Trail, just past the Red Spot Trail, the Spellman Trail is the steepest section of hiking that Mount Monadnock has to offer. Please take weather into consideration, as this trail should not be attempted in wet or icy conditions. After a short (0.15 mi) easy hike, the trail quickly ascends on boulders at first, then shifts to smaller rocks.

I don't recommend coming down this trail. Either the Cascade Link Trail or the Red Spot Trail will provide a much easier descent with smaller consequences if your foot slips out from under you.
