Need to Know

The trails are easy to find in the winter, but difficult to find in the summer.

Description

This southern portion of the Jackman Pond Loop starts just south of the pond outlet. It enters the woods near a broken sign that used to denote the trail.

The trail immediately passes by a junkyard (on the right). The trail winds through the woods to its end at Bunker Hill Road. If you take a left here and follow Bunker Hill Road to the north, you can pick up the North Shore Trail. Supposedly, there is a Perkin's Trail straight ahead as well (I didn't see it).

The first time I was here, I went out to hike the Bearcamp River Trail. The portion that goes through Hackett Hill WMA was non-existent; the only remnants of a trail were some faded blazes on the trees. If you're looking for a bushwhacking excursion, this is the trail for you.
