Description

This trail leaves from the Shin Oak Trail heading south and descends into open grasslands. The trail meanders around through the field and crosses a few wet weather creeks before climbing back up onto the hilltop and reconnecting with the Shin Oak Trail further north. Very few houses or man-made structures are seen from the trail, making it quite peaceful. The trail descends and ascends pretty gradually so it is never too strenuous.

Flora & Fauna

I was there during winter. Lots of tall grass, cedar trees (ash juniper) and some live oaks and other oaks along the hill crest. Probably wildflowers during the spring.

Golden cheek warbler and black capped vireo preserve, endangered species that are likely there.

Evidence of deer and raccoons. I have encountered rattlesnakes on connecting trails before, so stay on trail.
