Description

This is a great short loop in the Beech Creek Unit of the Big Thicket National Preserve. The trail curves to the south and splits after about 0.2 miles. Take either leg, as they both loop back to this point. This loop trail is a raised, native-dirt trail and provides a relatively short path to see the dense foliage and wildlife that is typical of the Big Thicket.

The trailhead makes a comfortable place to enjoy the woods and have a picnic.

Flora & Fauna

Our winter hike resulted in several snake sightings.

If you're quiet and patient, birds and other creatures of the forest become very apparent.
