Description

From Old Mine Road, this trail ascends gradually through an open forest with ferns covering much of the forest floor. This area is very picturesque. Shortly up an initial steep section, you'll find Laurel Falls on the right. About two-thirds of the way up, the trail becomes very steep and rocky. The trail ends on the Appalachian Trail. To the right is Sunfish Pond and to the left is Mount Mohican and Raccoon Ridge.

I've hiked the upper portion (AT to Rock Cores trail) of this trail a couple of times. It is worth noting that the spring and the trail closely follow one another and when it rains or even days after a heavy rain the two are indistinguishable. So be prepared for getting wet or going off trail a little bit. Mar 30, 2019
