Description

This is a steep descent from Mount Baldy Reservoir at the saddle between the two Almagre peaks.

The trail begins on the north side of FS Road 379A and passes on the south face of the river for a time before it switches back and descends to the river. The trail then follows the river eastward to meet with Foresters Trail / Jones #701. The descent is very steep, slanted, with exposure above the creek, and has some technical rock features. The surface is a mixture of big chunky rocks up top, nice dirt as it follows the creek, then sand and gravel. The trail is not well maintained, and not marked.

Once at Foresters Trail / Jones #701, three options exist: (1) go left on 701 and then head down Jones Park #667, (2) go straight on a seldom-used connector to join Pipeline Trail #668, or (3) go right on Foresters Trail / Jones #701 to get back to Frosty's/379 (and hike Pipeline Trail #668 from the top, or do something else).
