Description

Cougar Saddle Trail is one of those trails that is steep and grueling, but worth the effort at the end. The grade is very steep near the beginning and end, but both sections are fairly short.

This trail can be used as part of a bigger loop that includes North Fork Kennally Creek Trail, South Fork Buckhorn Creek Trail #097, Cougar Creek Trail, and the East Fork Kennally Creek Trail. To accomplish such a big loop does require a little suffering. Plus, once at the top of the ridge you'll look down into a nice lake basin on the South Fork Buckhorn Creek Trail #097.

There are a couple challenging rock slabs that have some drop offs, so make sure to be careful in these areas.
