Description

Yes, if you hike this you'll be on a long gravel road, which is not always great, but the views are pretty awesome.

This trail starts off of Schultz Pass Road, just east of the Schultz Tank trailhead area. It is all gravel fire road with no technical sections. It does maintain a steady, but gradual climb, though. Enjoy the views to the east and north as you ascend from pines up into aspens. You'll hike through the burn area of the Schultz fire, past steep drainage paths coming off the San Francisco peaks, and under a rock bridge on this climb. This trail is best used to access the Inner Basin Trail descent from Waterline Road down to Lockett Meadow. Can also be done as an out-and-back from Schultz Pass Loop.
