Please stay off the reindeer moss, as it is incredibly fragile!

Description

This is a simple trail made by a local Eagle Scout back in 2008 that connects from Trescott Road to the Appalachian Trail. When hiking this trail, you'll come across a clearing where you'll find yourself gazing at the real Velvet Rocks, which are stones covered in the rare Reindeer Moss.

The trail is maintained every few years because the entrance (in the springtime) tends to flood with puddles of water. But thanks to the Eagle Scout's water bars, this is rarely an issue anymore.

The manager of this land is complex since the trail crosses properties owned by Dartmouth College, Town of Hanover, and the Appalachian Trail Commission.
